Class Descriptions

INTRO TO DANCE - Ages 18 months - 6 years

Giggles & Wiggles (0-18 months with Parent/Guardian)

This is a parent/child class which helps the development of muscle tone, space and body awareness, vision, hearing and touch as your baby is moved gently through different positions. 

Dance With Me! (18 months – 2.5 years old with Parent/Guardian)

This is a parent/child class that uses age-appropriate creative movement activities to help introduce your child to dance.

Intro to Dance: Ballet/Tap/Tumble (Ages 2.5-3.5)

This is the first step into the world of ballet and tap! Dancers learn basic ballet positions and basic ballet steps. Dancers are also introduced to basic rhythm activities. Dancers will grow to love dance through a variety of creative movement activities. Each class will conclude with age appropriate acro/tumbling skills.

 

Ballet & Tap (Age 3.5-4)

A 60-minute ballet and tap combination class. Dancers continue to learn basic positions and steps while diving into the technique of ballet and tap while still using creative movement activities and imagination.

 

Ballet & Tumbling (Ages 3.5-4)

A 60-minute ballet and tap combination class. Dancers continue to learn basic ballet positions and steps while also gaining an introduction to basic acrobatic skills. Dancers are led through creative movement activities and imagery. All acrobatic classes are taught by an Acrobatic Arts certified instructor.

Creative Movement (Ages 3-5)

This class works to develop the students' understanding of rhythm, advance motor skills and coordination, and improve self-esteem and confidence. Dancers will have the opportunity to explore movement through imagery and prop play. With a maximum of five dancers, smaller class sizes will allow for more individualized attention. Shorter class time will help to make sure that dancers stay engaged the entire time.

 

Ballet & Tap Combo (Ages 5-6)

An introduction to ballet barre and center work as well as tap rhythms.  The class will perform two routines in the year end recital. 

Jazz & Tap Combo (Ages 5-6)

An introduction to jazz and arco technique. Dancers will be introduced to forward rolls, handstands, cartwheels, balance, flexibility, and strengthening exercises. All acrobatic classes are taught by an Acrobatic Arts certified instructor. This class will perform two routines in the recital.

All acrobatic classes are taught by an Acrobatic Arts certified instructor. This class will perform two routines in the recital.

Hip Hop & Tumbling Combo (Ages 5-6)

A high energy introduction into the world of hip hop and acrobatics! Dancers will be introduced to forward rolls, handstands, cartwheels, balance, flexibility, and strengthening exercises. All acrobatic classes are taught by an Acrobatic Arts certified instructor. This class will perform two routines in the recital.

Class Descriptions - Ages 7+

Class placement is based on a students age and development.  

Students are continually being evaluated by our faculty to assure proper  placement.

Acro

Dancers will work on endurance, strength, and flexibility. Basic acrobatic skills and elements such as forward rolls, handstands, and cartwheels continue to progress at this level. Dancers will progress on to challenging skills based on individual readiness. Dancers are encouraged to supplement their acro training with a ballet class. All acrobatic classes are taught by an Acrobatic Arts certified instructor.

Ballet

Ballet is an important foundation for many forms of dance. Dancers will focus on posture, grace, body placement, footwork, turns, jumps, and leaps. Dancers will work at the barre, center floor, and across the floor.

Contemporary  

Contemporary is a fusion of modern, lyrical, and jazz dance. This style allows the student more artistic freedom. This class will include floor work, improvisation, and dynamic movements. Dancers must be enrolled in Ballet to enroll in Contemporary.

Hip Hop

This class will focus on developing rhythm and coordination. Dancers will focus on music skills, body awareness, and understanding of hip hop fundamentals.

Jazz

Students will work on placement and technique. This class consists of flexibility, balancing, isolations, leaps, turns, and dance combinations.

Lyrical

Lyrical dance combines elements of ballet and jazz to create a soft style that emphasizes storytelling with grace, fluidity, and expressiveness. This class consists of flexibility, balance, leaps, turns, and dance combinations.

Tap

Tap classes focus on learning rhythm, tempo, musicality and combining basic to advanced tap steps. Dancers will develop fine motor skills as well as musicality.
